Argentine president to take leave following cancer surgery

President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner of Argentina has received a diagnosis of thyroid cancer, according to a December 27 official statement. Secretary of Communications Alfredo Scoccimarro said that the cancer has not metastasized, but surgery is now planned for January 4 in the new year.
